Richard Giles Keene Jr.    Nov. 1st 1966 ~ Jan. 5th 2022
(Richie; Rusty; Rooster)

Tennessee Native, Musician, songwriter and concert performer, love of life didn’t
come to an end with his death. Richard Giles Keene Jr. passed away on January 5, 2022 at the age of 55 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Growing up in a musical family, Richard enjoyed singing with his parents Richard and Judy Keene and his sisters at church, honing his skills as a self-taught guitar player and an accomplished musician.
In 2003 he was honored to join the USO to entertain our troops fresh from the battle of
Operation Iraqi Freedom. He entertained our American military with honor throughout 11 countries. There he gained much respect for his fellow patriots. He adored our military.

His sense of humor was undeniably one of his most recognizable personality traits.  He never met a stranger! Richard studied the Bible almost daily from the time he began to read. He was a builder and a creator in many facets, like his father before him.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Richard. He loved spending time with his family and his friends having conversations whether lighthearted or deep. He enjoyed teaching the bible to anyone who needed guidance and direction. He was always there for the underdog. He had a lot of grace and compassion for those who were hurting. He had that uncanny ability to make you feel like no matter the circumstances... everything was gonna be ok, even when his health was failing.
What a beautiful gift he gave to bring strength and encouragement to others even in his weakest moments.

Richard is preceded in death by mother, Judy C. Keene and father, Richard G. Keene.  He is survived by his sisters, Audrey, Geneva and Dione and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.  He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
