Nathan Michael Johnson

April 1, 1988 ~ January 21, 2019 (age 30)

Nathan Johnson, Born April 1, 1988. On January 21, 2019, passed into his forever life where we will see him again.

Our family doesn’t want Nathan to be remembered and defined by his addiction and his struggles, although they were very real. But there was so much more to Nathan - his sense of humor, his good looks, and his passion for music. He was a talented musician who put his heart into the songs he wrote, and played, and sang. He lost himself in the music and shut out the rest of the world.

To our family he was a compassionate, sensitive heart. He loved his daughter - who he nicknamed "Ell’s Bells" - above all and was so very proud of the little girl she is and the young lady he knew she would be someday. He always said that she was the best thing he ever did, and no matter what she was his blessing. One of sweet Ella’s favorite memories is getting to snuggle with her daddy as she slept.

When Nathan was a boy he never really wanted to spend the night away from his mom. He once told his grandmother that he would be so glad when Debbie picked him up because she was going to be so pretty and smell so good. Nathan and his mom always had a special heart connection, and he filled her cup in their special times together.

If you really knew Nathan, you know he always gave you the brightest smiles and the best hugs. And if you were really special, Hannah said you got a kiss on the forehead to go with it - even if you were the big sister who loved a good fight with him as a kid.

From the time Nathan was a year old, he loved to drive. Whether it was his sister’s Pink Barbie Corvette with a makeshift steering wheel his daddy fixed for him or the lawnmower he called a "wanawome", he was behind the wheel. At barely two years old you might find him nodding off at naptime as he tried to keep driving his little jeep with heavy eyelids. As Nathan grew, the "ride" grew, and he could be found cruising around in the go-cart Pa Joe built. As his little brother Aaron caught up with Nathan, he became his sidekick and was included in the fun as they rode motorcycles and made memories with Pa Joe and their dad - who always had Nathan’s back.

He was also a light to his Granny and Nannie Margie who were easily won over with that smile of his.

Our family is broken by the loss of Nathan; without him we are not whole, but we pray that he has found peace and that he walks with God til we get to be with him again.
