Roxie was a woman who truly lit up a room. Her smile was constant, her laughter infectious, and her energy seemingly endless. She lived life in motion—always on the go, always ready for the next adventure, and always eager to help someone along the way.
A devoted supporter of those in need, Roxie had a special place in her heart and in the late 1970s, she organized and hosted carnival fundraisers in the Glade for the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association pouring her time, creativity, and love into helping others.
Her love for children was especially evident through her church, where she delighted in making small necklaces and bracelets for each child, gifts crafted with care and given with joy. Those simple tokens reflected her big heart and her desire to make everyone feel special and loved.
Roxie was also known for her home and her hospitality. She made the most amazing banana pudding and chicken and dumplings—meals that brought people together and made everyone feel welcome. Her table, like her heart, was always open.
Roxie had a deep affection for animals of all kinds—her beloved chickens, dogs, cats, and any creature that happened to cross her path. She also cherished the beauty of the Smoky Mountains, finding peace and happiness in their splendor.
