David William Midgett age 78 of Lebanon passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was preceded in death by parents, John and Marjorie Midgett; and son, David Baxter Midgett.
He is survived by wife of 57 years, Ella Sue Vance Midgett; granddaughter, Caitlyn (Daniel) Davis; grandson, Andrew (Katie) Midgett; great granddaughters, Madelyn, Davey, and Amelia Midgett; brothers, John Michael Midgett, Joe (Angie) Midgett, and Robin (Danielle) Midgett; sister, Laurie (Mark) Raulston; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Mr. David Midgett, a man known for his love of family, friendship, and anything with chrome and horsepower, passed away leaving behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew him. He was a 1965 graduate of Watertown High School and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church
For 32 years, David was the proud co-owner of Beetle Werks alongside his brother, Joe. Together, they built more than a business — they built friendships and a reputation that became well known among car enthusiasts and the community alike. David had a deep passion for collecting old cars and vintage toys, always appreciating the craftsmanship, history, and stories behind every piece.
He was a proud member of the Midnight Rodders and the Nashville Street Rodders, where he shared countless miles, laughter, and memories with fellow car lovers. He also treasured his time spent with his friends at Hardee’s, where conversations and friendships were just as important as the coffee itself.
Those who knew David often heard him say that if it wasn’t shiny and didn’t go fast, he didn’t want anything to do with it. That passion for life and excitement reflected the joy he carried every day.
Above all else, David’s greatest love was his family. His wife was the center of his world, as well as his son, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. The love they shared was evident to everyone around them. He cherished every moment spent with his family and leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, laughter, hard work, and love.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his memory will continue to ride on through the stories, the friendships, and the engines that still roar in his honor.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at 5 p.m. in the Partlow Funeral Chapel with visitation from 11 a.m. until the service at 5 p.m. Bro Tyler Gaulden will officiate the services.
